1. Why do I need software protection?
An average of one in every three software programs currently in use is an illegal copy. And these are only the professionally used products and not the copies for home use. A study of the Business Software Alliance (BSA) for 2004 has reported that the current piracy rate is 35%. The damage due to lost revenue from these pirated copies added up to 32.7 billion US $. In regions with an exceedingly high growth there is a correspondingly extremely high piracy rate of up to 92%.

How do pirate copies come into existence?
The biggest damage caused by pirated copies doesn't come from individual copies of software programs but from the deliberate or even unknowing use in the business world:

Sales of fake "original goods" (professional pirate copies - in most cases the purchaser doesn't recognize the imitation)

Unauthorized rental of copies intended to be sold
Download of hacks via the Internet
