5. WIBU-KEY, the memory giant WIBU-KEY is available as standard version with 10 different Firm Code/User Code entries and as lite version with one Firm Code/User Code entry. The versions for USB, PCMCIA and LPT have a memory of 16 kByte. Each User Code exists of a 24 bit value. This means you can program 10 entries with a total of 240 different modules or products in one WIBU-BOX. There the User Code will be analysed bitwise as a Master Code. An entry can easily be transferred in a Unit Counter or Expiration Date. Then you have for example 5 entries with 5 independent Unit Counters. You can use one Unit Counter for creating a Pay-Per-Use version. For example your software can be started 20 times by your customer and afterwards he wants to purchase more units from you. The Unit Counter allows you to account the real used time depending on units that can defined by you, for example in minutes. The Expiration Date allows you to control the date you software is running. Then your customers can extend, permanently activate or even delete the license. Every WIBU-BOX with the plus has an extended memory of 16 kByte. The memory is devided in two parts of 8 kByte each. The first 8 kByte are connted to the first entry in the WIBU-BOX. They are encrypted, can be programmed via your FSB and be read only with a signature that is similar to a password. You can write and read the second 8 kByte via WIBU-KEY API without limitation. |
